Brandasund

Brandasund is located north on the island of Bømlo, where Selbjørnsfjorden meets the North Sea. Due to the favorable location, Brandasund has been a center of trade and maritime industry for quite some time. The harbor was used by Hansa ships destined for Bergen, as it provided supplies and quick relief from the unpredictable weather of the North Sea. Sjøfartsmuseet(The Maritime museum) in Bergen has a Dutch map from 1642 showing Brandasund in detail. Trade is still important, and our shop provides most supplies for customers, whether they arrive by boat or car.

The area is great for fishing, both in between the isles of this archipelago, and around the banks and reefs further out in the North Sea. By boat, one can reach most of these locations within half an hour from our harbor at Skjeret.

Sailing, diving or paddling among the islets is quite an experience, and one can easily find a wind free beach or a small islet where one can be all alone, even during the tourist season. One can also experience the life at Slåtterøy Fyr, Norways most powerful lighthouse. This can be arranged by contacting "Slåtterøy's venner" // Add Link.
